1.  Introduce yourself for us please?
My name is Copperpot. I’m a producer/beat maker out of Chicago.

1a. How'd you get the name?
I sampled it.

2. So, you're a producer , been makin beats for a minute, how'd you get started in it all?
I started about five years ago with a couple of my guys, DJ Sapien and this cat, The Graduate. As for myself, the reasons I started, i had always bought hip hop records, it is my culture, my music. But at that point I was very disenfranchised with what I was hearing/buying. So I said f#$k it and bought an MPC 2000xl and started making beats myself.

3. You've worked with Bamski the Bigot, and some of the cats from All Natural Inc. right? Who else have you worked with ?
In Chicago: Bamski, Iomos Marad (of All Natural Inc.), Akbar, Profound, LongShot, Diverse, Psalm One.
Outside of Chicago: Mr. Complex, Edo.G, Pace Won, Czar, Braintax (UK), Verb T (UK), Kashmere (UK), Truth Enola.

4. What type of equipt. do you use?
I use an MPC4000 now. Sold the 2000xl about a year ago to pay rent.

5. Who would like to work with in the future if you had your way?
There are a number of heads I want to work with: De La Soul, The Genius, Too Short, Bahamadia, Skinnyman (UK) to name a few.

6. Whats the creative Process like for you? Do you dig for records to sample ? What does other inspiration come from ?
I dig. I drive hours outside of the city, or take the bus, to spots I find in the phone book. Half of them aren’t there anymore so I get sent off a lot. I got one of them vestax portable turntables so I will bring that with me to listen before i spend my lunch money on the wax. I rarely sample from cd’s, too digital for me. My process takes forever, a beat will go through multiple stages before I am finished with it. I like to arrange everything on the MPC so if I change a hi hat in the 48th bar I go back and listen to the whole thing. My inspiration comes just from the art and culture itself, there is so much to be inspired by, even the wack s$@t is inspirational.

7. Tell us about any further projects u got coming up?
My album “Chapter 7” drops February 22nd on EV Productions, INC. I am working on an album with Truth Enola, an album with LongShot, an album with Verb T, and my next album. I gotta stay busy.

8. Any shout outs or plugs?
Just wanna say thanks to you and the other DJ’s who spin my records and have supported. Also want to say RIP to my g-ma who passed away this week. I don’t need glasses I have prescription eyes.

Thanks man,  Dan
